Satoshi Kudo
Satoshi Kudo was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1967. He was educated in gymnastics and martial arts from an early age and began his career with the Japan Action Club, founded and run by Sonny Chiba. Satoshi worked as a dancer in Tokyo for the next six years and at 23 he moved to New York to study modern dance at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Peridance Center and Jennifer Muller/The Works, and worked for several dance companies. He also studied cinema photography at the New York Film Academy in 1996.
He has worked for a succession of choreographers including Ohad Naharin (Israel), Jorma Uotinen (Finland) and Tim Rushton (England/Denmark). Satoshi is now based in Sweden, where he met Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. He danced in Cherkaoui’s productions Myth and TeZukA and also doubled as his assistant choreographer on Apocrifu, Origine and Sutra. Satoshi founded Company KUDO in 2002, based in Stockholm. The company has performed in Scandinavia and Japan.
