Das Rheingold
In the period 2010-2013 Guy Cassiers directs the opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner. The musical direction is in the hands of the world-renowned conductor Daniel Barenboim.
Der Ring des Nibelungen is a production of Teatro alla Scala and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, in cooperation with Toneelhuis.
Within this cooperation, Guy Cassiers will make the opera cycle with a number of artists who already collaborated with him for a number of his productions: Enrico Bagnoli, Arjen Klerkx and Kurt d'Haeseleer. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui creates the choreography of Das Rheingold and Siegfried and works with some of the Eastman dancers in Milan. The successful Belgian fashion designer Tim Van Steenbergen is responsible for the costumes.
