Georgios Kotsifakis
Georgios Kotsifakis was born in Heraklion Crete, Greece in 1988 and is a graduate dancer from the Professional Dance School of Rallou Manou in Athens and the Amsterdam School of Arts, where he studied Modern Theatre Dance. He has also been accepted in the first year of the international dance school P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels in 2008. Furthermore, he studied at the International and European Studies department of the University of Piraeus, Greece.
As a dancer he has collaborated with many companies and artists such as Jan Fabre, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (Eastman, Royal Ballet of Flanders), Dimitris Papaioannou, Andonis Foniadakis, Christos Papadopoulos (Leon & the Wolf), the National Theatre of Greece, the National Greek Opera (with William Forsythe), the State Theatre of Northern Greece, the National Dance Centre of Romania, Konstantinos Rigos (Oktana Dancetheater), Nanine Linning (Theater Osnabrück), Alexandra Waierstall, Iris Karayan, Sinequanon Dance Company, TedX Brussels, Nigel Charnock (DV8) and others. He performed in several international festivals such as Julidans (The Netherlands 2017), Aerowaves Spring Forward (Czech Republic 2016 & 2017), 16th Biennale de la Danse in Lyon (France 2014), Festival Internacional Cervantino (Mexico 2014), Belgrade Dance Festival (Serbia 2014), Festival D’Avignon (France 2013), Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (Argentina 2013), Sesc Pinheiros São Paulo (Brazil 2012), Athens & Epidavrus Festival, Impulstanz Festival (Austria 2012), Festival di Danza Contemporanea a Rovereto (Italy 2011), Kuopio Dance Festival (Finland 2011), World Expo 2010 Shanghai and more.
Georgios was part of the choreographic team for the opening ceremony for the first European Games that took place in 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan under the artistic direction of Dimitris Papaioannou. He has also participated in the short film Liebestod from Stathis Athanasiou and attended several seminars/workshops with Dafnis Kokkinos (Pina Bausch), Emio Greco, Lauren Potter, Thomas McManus, Milan Herich and Hildegard De Vuyst.
