Morgan Lugo
Morgan Lugo was born in Wilmington, North Carolina (USA) in 1989, where he began his dance training in clogging, eventually medalling gold and silver in the Junior Olympics. Later he began his formal training at North Carolina School of the Arts, receiving a BFA from SUNY Purchase. In 2012, Morgan was one of six founding members invited to begin working with L.A. Dance Project in Los Angeles under the direction of Benjamin Millepied. Over the next 5 years, he created many original roles for L.A. Dance Project by choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Emmanuel Gat, Justin Peck, Roy Assaf, Hiroaki Umeda and Benjamin Millepied himself. He has enjoyed performing principal roles in other works created by Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Merce Cunningham, and Martha Graham. In 2013, he was asked to Participate in Boris Charmatz's 20 Dancers for the XX Century at MoMA. Morgan’s creative expression extends beyond the stage into Photography. In the past year, his photographic works have been exhibited at the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles and Parc de Ateliers in Arles, France. Starting season 2017-18 he dances with Royal Ballet Flanders, currently as soloist.
