Helder Seabra
Helder Seabra was born in Portugal in 1982. He started dancing in 2000. He studied dance at the Ginasiano Dance School in Portugal and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. Between 2000 and 2003 he was involved in projects with Pedro Carvalho, Ronit Zivú Companhia Instável and Javier de Frutosú Companhia Instável. In 2004, he joined Ultima Vez for the revival of Vandekeybus’ Les porteuses de mauvaises nouvelles and continued on as a member of the company till 2008. He was in the productions PUUR, Spiegel, MENSKE and the dance film Here After. In 2008 he assisted Vandekeybus in BlackBiist for the GoBallet, he co-created the duo Fica Aqui with Cláudio Stellato, collaborated with Inês Cerqueira and Joaquim Carvalho in the video dance Macla and gave movement/rhythm classes to the Basketball Oporto team. In 2009 he was involved in different projects, both as a creator and as a performer and taught internationally. He directed Spela Tovornik’s graduation solo In.Tent SEAD (Salburg), created IMAGO for Companhia Instável, was in Mindscaping from Bruno Caverna for DWA (Amsterdam) and assisted Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui on Dunas. Since January 2010 he’s a member of Eastman as a performer, assistant and teacher; performer and interpreter of Babel (words) and TeZukA, assistant for It 3.0, and tutor for local and international teaching assignments of the company. In parallel, he co-created and performed with Victor Hugo Pontes the duo Rendez-Vous. In 2012 he assisted Cherkaoui for the creation of Automaton at Pilobolus Dance Theatre (New York). He continues developing his own work and he teaches regularly internationally.
