Barbara 'Basia' Drazkowska
Barbara Drazkowska is a pianist specialized in contemporary music interpretation.
In 2005 she graduated with distinction from the Music University in Poznań (Poland), in the piano class of Grzegorz Kurzyński. In the same year she was awarded the prestigious scholarship of the German Government DAAD and continued her education in Cologne and Luebeck under the supervision of world-renowned pianists, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and James Tocco. Winning the Grand Prix and Sound New Award at the 13th Krakow International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music (2009) has enabled her to explore the modern music field and has borne fruit in a collaboration with numerous composers.
Having lived in Poland, Germany, Spain and currently in Belgium - Barbara Drazkowska gained a strong position in the European musical scene, working with Wim Henderickx, Jorrit Tamminga, Jose Maria Sanchez Verdu, Cesar Camarero, Manuel Añon, Szymon Brzóska, Paweł Mykietyn, Bartosz Smorągiewicz and performing in the most important concert halls in Europe.
She has been invited by festivals (Sound New Contemporary Music Festival in Canterbury, Holland Festival, Polish Pianists Festival, Poznań Music Spring), theatres (Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in New York, Sadler's Wells Theatre in London, Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam, deSingel in Antwerp), orchestras (Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra 'Amadeus', Holland Symphony Orchestra, Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra 'Hanseatica') and ensembles (Zahir Ensemble, Taller Sonoro, Eastman Company).
Barbara Drazkowska recorded 3 CDs: ‘Creation Injuve 2010’ (Madrid), ‘Piotr Bosacki - Pipy Lalek’ (Poznan 2007), ‘Szymon Brzóska - The Wanderer’ (Poznan 2011).
Since 2009 she has been cooperating with choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, playing in his productions: Dunas, Orbo Novo, Labyrinth and Sutra.
Barbara performs also with Kinematic Ensemble and Drazkowska-Torner Piano Duo.
