Jonas Garrido Verwerft
Jonas Garrido Verwerft was born in Antwerp, Belgium. He started his movement training at breakdance classes when he was 10 years old and continued adding various styles of movement, like gymnastics, martial arts, freerunning, and different urban styles. In university he finished a master in movement sciences while continuing as an amateur dancer, getting in touch with performances through a project called Let's Go Urban.
After his studies, he started working for Franco Dragone in China and never stopped working as a freelance dancer in a variety of urban, circus and contemporary productions, working with choreographers like Quan Bui Gnoc, Randi De Vlieghe, Ish Ait Hamoud, Yves Ruth, Mohammed Boujara, Thomas Steylaerts, Minhee Bervoets, and Jenna Jalonen.
In 2018 he co-created BEAT, I just wish to feel you alongside Jenna Jalonen with Collective Dope, a contemporary duet that was selected for Aerowaves Twenty20 & won the Rudolf Laban Prize in 2019.
