Anne Rindahl Karlsen
Anne Rindahl Karlsen was born in Bodø, northern Norway, in 1983. She began singing at the age of seven in Bodø Cathedral's singing school and here she laid the foundation for her great interest in music. Together with Bodø Cathedral's youth choir, she got to take part in major productions, including two operas with Paul McCreesh and Gabrieli Consort & Players. They also toured in countries such as Ireland, Singapore, Australia, Chile and South Africa.
In the years 1999-2002, Anne studied music at the music department in Bodø, with specialization in singing and with a final exam in jazz vocals.
In recent years, Anne has worked in several music genres and has, among other things, recorded music and toured with both rap artists and electronic musicians. She has sung with several Norwegian vocal ensembles, and is currently a member of Ensemble Ylajali, led by musical director Tim Ferguson. Ensemble Ylajali focuses on contemporary vocal music, often of a variety that is both demanding and innovative.
Anne is also a member of the international early music ensemble Ratas del viejo Mundo which is under the direction of lutenist Floris De Rycker. The group's repertoire ranges from instrumental music and chansons to extensive polyphony. Ratas del viejo Mundo is garnering airplay, concerts and excellent recording reviews worldwide.
