Tomàs Maxé, baritone bass, was born in Barcelona and began his musical studies at the Escolania de Montserrat, continuing them taking Sound Technician and Teaching Career studies at the same time, and studying singing with Dalmau Gonzalez, Carlos Chausson, Kurt Widmer and Lied with Dolors Aldea. 

His solid choir training led him to win the 1st prize at the 44th edition of the Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales de España in 1995 with ensemble Musica Reservata de Barcelona. Today he works closely with specialist ensembles of early music like Ratas del Viejo Mundo, Graindelavoix, Capella de Ministrers, Tasto Solo, Club Medieval, and Resonet.

Although he is a specialist in ancient music, his repertoire also includes contemporary music. He loves, including to sing as countertenor in some performances, to experiment and to be involved in many different projects with dancers, puppets, circus and film artists, like Venus & Adonis by John Blow (La Cònica/Lacònica puppets), Cesena (Rosas and Graindelavoix) Outlandish cine-concert (Graindelavoix), and Šumava (circus artists and Ratas del Viejo Mundo).

As soloist he sang Haendel, Haydn, Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Schumann, Strauss, Fauré, Duruflé, Carl Orff, Kurt Weill, Stockhausen, and performed roles like Jesus in Matthäus Passion by J. S. Bach, Jesus in Markuspassion by R. Keiser, Avi Castellet in Cançó d'Amor i de Guerra of Martínez i Valls, Sargente in La Bohème by Puccini, Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcel.

He performed in more than 20 countries at many music festivals and made more than 30 recordings for companies such as Cantus, Glossa, Enchiriadis, Klara, Ramée, Columna Música, La mà de Guido, Radio Nacional de España, Group Radio France, and Catalunya Música.
