Andrea "Drew" Bou Othmane
Andrea Bou Othmane is a self-taught Italian-Tunisian movement artist. Born in Monza, Italy, Bou Othmane’s dance journey started in 2009 with electro dance, a natural extension of his friend group at the time. He progressed rapidly, eventually becoming the 1:1 Italian champion in this dance style. From there, Bou Othmane started to explore and become well-versed in other dance techniques. Bou Othmane has appeared in a vast array of creative projects and shows on a global scale. In 2019 he spent one month touring Africa with the show Mirrors, produced by Griot Magazine.
Since 2022, he has been working for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Eastman, where he premiered the duet creation Antidote for the 90th Anniversary Gala of Jacob’s Pillow. In the same year, he appeared in the revival of the musical Starmania by Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon, directed by Thomas Jolly, and as the lead dancer in Sutra by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, produced by Sadler’s Wells. In 2023, Bou Othmane worked with Cherkaoui on the opera production of Hanjo at Bayerische Staatsoper, the campaign of Dom Perignon ft. Lady Gaga, directed by Woodkid, THE LOUBI SHOW IV for Christian Louboutin at Paris Fashion Week 2023, and performed a dance solo during the televised award ceremony of the Ultimas in honor of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. One year later he joined Cherkaoui in two projects at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, in the opera division with Cherkaoui’s direction of Mozart’s Idomeneo, and in the ballet department with the creation of Ihsane.
Most recently, Andrea was featured as lead dancer in the music video Try Me by Jorja Smith, which won the UK MVA 2023 for Best R&B / Soul Video. He performs with the Swedish singer songwriter Loreen, choreographed by Mecnun Giasar, in large-scale television events like Los 40 Music Awards 2023 (Madrid), NRJ Music Awards 2023 (Cannes) and The National Lottery's New Year's Eve Big Bash 2024 (Wembley Arena, London).
