Charlene Lim
Originally from Singapore, Charlene Lim is an independent Paris-based performing arts producer and cultural broker. Over the course of her career, Charlene has worked with a wide spectrum of artists, including actor/director John Malkovich, dancer Sylvie Guillem, fashion designer Akira Isogawa, and musician Nitin Sawhney.
In 2008, she set up her own consultancy Global Arts Link, which specialises in international and cross-cultural projects.
In 2013, she was the International Producer for Dance the Dream: a global dance tribute held in 16 cities around the world on 28th August to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. The project was led by Karz Productions in New York, in partnership with United Nations, UNESCO, International Theatre Institute, and YouTube amongst others.
From 2010 to 2014, Charlene was consulant to the International Theatre Institute ITI: an NGO founded by and based in UNESCO with a network of centres and cooperating members in 90 countries which uses the performing arts to promote peace and cultural cooperation.
From 2008 to 2010, Charlene worked on Swanning Around - a major UK-China collaboration that formed the centerpiece at the UK Pavilion National Day Performance at the Shanghai World Expo - as English National Ballet’s Asia Project Consultant.
In addition to producing and managing international projects, Charlene currently represents a number of dance companies, musicians and theatre practitioners from Belgium, China, France, Italy, Namibia, South Africa, the UK and USA, for whom she secures touring and residency opportunities, a full list of which can be found on http://www.globalartslink.com
In 2014, she started working with internationally esteemed humanist photojournalist Reza, and has recently assumed the role of Personal Manager to the critically acclaimed Flemish-Moroccan dance artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
Charlene also provides consultancy and brokering services to organizations, corporates and presenters in search of suitable artists for their platforms & projects.
Prior to moving to Paris, Charlene was Company Manager of Akram Khan Dance Company based in London, and Cultural Attaché at the Australian High Commission in Singapore.
